Boiler Rufftonium

NAME: Boiler Rufftonium. Only one of a few CX children possessing a first and last name, Boiler took the last name of the Utoniums and blended it to form his last name. It was due to a past kindness from that family that dealt with them helping Boiler find a positive focus for his then troubled life.

HISTORY: Boiler was created when Professor Dick Hardly returned with an improved and more reliable "KNOCK OFF" formula. Hardly was defeated, and ultimately killed, but not before successfully creating THOUSANDS of stable male and female CX children. Now, Boiler is just one of these many homeless Puffs and Ruffs that roam Townsville. Hardly appeared to love and cherish Boiler letting him want for nothing. Being just created, Boiler did not know that he was basically just an advanced genetic prototype that had the ability to teleport. It was Hardly's dream to create a whole new species of Chemical X children that could teleport in and out of banks, museums, and other high value places to effortlessly steal for him. Fortunately, he was stopped in time by his old college friend, Professor Utonium and the Powerpuff Girls. When Boiler discovered he was created out of greed and not love, it nearly devastated him. The Utoniums, realizing naive Boiler was good at heart, took it upon themselves to help him find focus and a positive direction in his life. The day that the Utoniums took him in, Jun 11, is the day Boiler now considers as his birthday. The day Professor hardly created him is unknown and Boiler would not take that day as his birthday anyway. During his stay with them, Boiler was shown a deceased homeless puff that the Professor had been made aware of and it caused Boiler much grief as he recognized her from his time with Professor Hardly. Boiler felt responsible because he believed that if he had taken the time to get to know her, she'd be alive now. It took a long time for the the Professor and the girls to convince him it wasn't his fault she died.

Nowadays, Boiler lives in the crawlspaces of the Townsville Public Library close to an old heating boiler, hence his name, Boiler. An old building, the library has been remodeled numerous times since it's construction in the early colonial era. It's warm in the winter and cool in the summer and that suits Boiler just fine. It's Boiler's hideaway and he has never revealed it's location to anyone. Getting in and out by teleportation also aids in this practice, because nobody can see him coming and going.

APPEARANCE: Boiler has typical black ruff shoes. He wears a long (sometimes short) pair of desert camoflague pants (US Military early 90's Chocolate Chip style)and an orange T-shirt. His chestnut brown hair is usually worn in a male styled ponytail. He does not wear glasses, but has been known to squint when intently focusing on a particular object.

CHARACTERISTICS: Left handed Boiler is somewhat shy and weaker than the typical Rowdyruff (Boomer, Brick, Butch) and would rather talk his way out of a confrontation if at all possible. It's not that he's afraid of a beatdown, it's his desire to deflect the bad reputation of being a ruff that the original Rowdyruffs have caused. Boiler wants to be thought of as his own person and not a mindless troublemaker. As a result, he's gotten rather good at negotiation with humans and other CX beings. In addition to that, he knows that he and the other CX children were created not out of love, but for profit. Boiler wants to chart his own course and make a positive mark in the world in spite of what Professor Hardly wanted. As a result of this, he has been nicknamed Boiler the Toiler because of his unwavering focus on setting a good example for the other CX children. Maybe, what he needs at this point in his life, is a fun loving puff or ruff to help him lighten up and relax a bit.

Boiler is flightless, and gets around by teleportation. It's as normal to him as walking is to a human, or flying in this case, to a CX child. It should be noted that for the longest time Boiler thought he was the only CX child that could teleport. He was very surprised, pleased, and intensely curious when he accidentally met Bojana, a female teleporter. Said accident being a literal mid air collision. While not dating her, Boiler considers Bojana a kindred spirit and, as such, is concerned for her safety.

Although not a practical joker by nature, Boiler has been known to respond in kind if he's on the receiving end of an especially embarrassing gag. Sort of a "Let's see how YOU like it!" attitude. He also has a  habit of blowing out lightbulbs when he's a bit ticked off and wishes to make a point as he leaves. Nobody can figure out how he does it, but Boiler can blow out a light bulb like a person blows out a candle. Boiler thinks it has something to do with his teleportation powers, but even he isn't sure. All he knows is that it drives everybody nuts trying to figure out how he does it!

His musical tastes stray to the unusual with his liking of Scottish Bagpipes, the Australian Didgeridoo, the Indian Sitar, the American Banjo, and an instrument sometimes referred to as a Jew's Harp, or Mouth Harp.  It is not known if he can actually play any of these instruments, or if he has any musical talent as do some other CX beings.

Boiler also has a sweet tooth weakness for Blueberry cheesecake and Chocolate and Peanut Butter ice cream. Being a ruff with a high teleportation metabolism must burn off those calories because he's as thin as any CX kid out there.

POWERS:  
1. STORAGE: A recent discovery, Boiler has merely to grab an item, say a gun from a criminal, and toss it away. It actually teleports away into thin air and remains there until Boiler retrieves it. This works for anything Boiler touches if he wants, be it animate or inanimate. This probably explains Boiler's lightbulb trick because he makes
the filament disappear which puts the light out.

2. MIMICRY: Boiler has developed a knack of imitating sounds. He has to hear a sound, or voice, only once to perfectly reproduce it. This may be a derivative of the language power possessed by certain puffs. One wonders why he hasn't tried to sing with this ability instead of just listening to music like he prefers.

3. PUPPY DOG EYES: Sometimes appearing weak and helpless will cause an opponent to halt and falter. Boiler will look at an opponent and widen his eyes and pout. It may seem infantile, but it's effective when his defenses are down and he needs a diversionary tactic to buy some time.

4. TELEPORTATION: This is Boiler's main power as it is his means of personal transportation. Actually, he considers it more advanced than flying. For example, if a flying ruff challenged him in a race to say, the Eiffel Tower, Boiler would get there first. He has merely to think of a place, and then he is there almost instantly. Walls and barriers are no problem as Boiler can teleport right through them. This point was demonstrated recently when Boiler materialized inside the female showers at school in an over anxious attempt to find the Powerpuff Girls. Boiler had urgent news for them about an imminent Mojo Jojo plot and frankly, didn't think about the privacy issues when he delivered his message. He was subsequently forgiven by most of the puffs when he explained why. One puff, a hot tempered, loose silver haired cannon named Bay did manage to turn Boiler into a pony as payback before the spell was reversed. Bay later grudgingly apologized, but still hasn't told Boiler her biggest secret. That being she has a major crush for him.

Boiler can also transport others with him if need be. All he has to do is hold hands to bring that person along. The only drawback is the energy involved to do so. The more passengers he brings along, the weaker it leaves him.

Boiler's teleportation power can also act defensively to ensure his safety. Think of it as a type of Spider-sense that Spiderman uses, or the reflex of pulling your hand away from a hot object. If his back is turned and danger rears it's ugly head, Boiler will automatically teleport a short distance away. However, this does not mean he can't be hit. If Boiler is in a fight and his opponent happens to land a lucky blow then it was Boiler's fault for not getting out of the way.

HABITS: Boiler prefers to read, and his favorite book is a collection of color photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Professor Utonium gave the book to Boiler during his brief stay at his residence. Intently curious about the world he finds himself in, reading has become his favorite thing to do and perhaps it's all those hours living in the Townsville Library that explains it. When Boiler was younger he was a solitary ruff, but now has begun to interact with some of the many puffs and ruffs around town which has turned his shyness around 180 degrees. A past pool party was his first real social outing, and he enjoyed it immensly because it allowed him to meet other CX children such as Wasp, Polar, Bumblebee, Supersmith, and Daisy to name a few. A subsequent night pool party proved very beneficial as it allowed him to form a trusting bond with Vana, a vampire matriarch and her clan. Vana's clan also included a very interesting vampire puff named Cliva who's relationship with Boiler has caused much curiosity and speculation among his CX peers. Only Boiler and Clivia know their exact status, and they're not telling. Recently, his social circle expanded even more when he met Banshee, an enigmatic female ghost puff. When they departed, Boiler thought she seemed pained at some inner secret and wonders what it might be. She has a brother, also a ghost, who's name is Boo, but Boiler hasn't met him yet.

Currently, he's just started dating a puff named Hannah Hunter. He's known her for some time, and they've been seen many times together around town. While they haven't made an official announcement concerning their status, several dejected puffs figure it's a done deal.
